Joty Sandhu

Profile

Joty will be joining Onyx Law Group as an Associate after completing articles with the firm this year. Joty has experience in both Family Law and Estate Litigation, and has appeared before Appeal Tribunals and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Joty obtained her Juris Doctor law degree from the University of British Columbia. She was an active member of her law school community, serving as Co-President of the South Asian Law Students’ Association and in the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program, while remaining involved in various sports such as rugby, dodgeball and softball.

She was also employed as a Research Assistant at Peter A. Allard School of Law, through which she had an opportunity to speak amongst leading experts, academics and policy makers at the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Conference, hosted by the US Department of Justice National Institute of Justice in Washington, D.C.

In her spare time, Joty enjoys hiking, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Joty is fluent in Punjabi and has a rudimentary speaking ability in Hindi and Urdu.
