Janis joined Onyx Law Group as the firm’s first articled student and is now a Senior Associate lawyer with a practice dedicated to estate litigation and estate planning.

Janis has a law degree from the Allard School of Law at UBC and has more than a decade of experience in estate litigation. Over the years, Janis has assisted clients in a variety of complex estate litigation cases dealing with matters such as:

Janis is passionate about estate litigation and is known for her skillful application of the law to help her clients achieve fairness. 

In addition to estate litigation, Janis also advises clients in estate planning and family law, including:

  • drafting wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements; 
  • preparing and reviewing estate accounts; and
  • family property disputes.

Outside of the practice of law, Janis loves spending time outdoors, biking or hiking, and tending to her numerous houseplants.
