Candace is known for her creativity and deep knowledge of both estate and family law, as well as the law of equity and trusts to craft claims for clients to get the best results possible. She deftly navigates the intricacies and interrelationships of family, estate and trust law to push the development of the law in a better direction. Candace was awarded her King’s Counsel (KC) designation for being an outstanding lawyer in British Columbia in 2025 by the British Columbia Attorney General. She has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, and has lectured numerous times on issues of family, estate and trust law.
Her philosophy is to encourage settlement whenever possible, and to minimize cost and stress for her clients. She will not hesitate to take matters to trial if she deems it necessary and in the best interests of her clients.
Candace deals with all aspects of estate litigation, including, but not limited to the following:
- Wills variation actions (s. 60 of WESA)
- Breach of fiduciary duty actions
- Validity of Wills actions
- Resulting trust actions
- Dealing with problem executors and trustees
- Passing of accounts for estates
- Unjust enrichment and other constructive trust actions
Candace deals with clients coming from all walks of life, whether they are disinherited children, spouses, or caretakers, executors, beneficiaries, or disabled persons. She acts primarily as plaintiff’s counsel, but has represented defendants in the past as well.
In her free time: Candace enjoys traveling, cooking, dancing, singing, and yoga. She is the co-founder of an educational not-for profit in Ecuador called Uno a Uno.
She is passionate: about social justice and using microfinance to help eradicate poverty.
