Louisa Ledesma joined Onyx Law Group as an associate lawyer in 2025, practicing in the areas of family law and estate litigation.

Louisa is a double alumna of the University of British Columbia, having completed her undergraduate degree there in 2018 (major in Psychology and minor in Classical, Near East, and Religious Studies) and later obtaining her Juris Doctor at the Peter A. Allard School of Law in 2023. During her second year of law school, Louisa joined the clinical externship program at Rise Women’s Legal Centre as a temporary articled student, providing pro bono legal services primarily in Family Law to women and gender diverse people in BC. Louisa worked on a wide range of matters relating to divorce, child support, parenting arrangements, family violence, separation agreements, document drafting and negotiations. Her most memorable experience was securing a successful result for her client on the issue of child support on the eve of trial at the BC Provincial Court.

During her articles at a family law firm in downtown Vancouver, Louisa worked on extremely complex and high conflict matters, resulting in several published judgments. She has appeared in both the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Louisa was second chair in Zhang v. Chen, 2023 BCSC 2206, which involved $70-90 million in assets and she assisted in achieving one of the highest interim support awards in BC.

In Feng v Fang, 2024 BCSC 1271, Louisa successfully argued imputation of income against opposing party and secured interim spousal support for her client.

In S.S.C.M. v. A.C.W., 2024 BCSC 1296, which involved an inter-jurisdictional parenting dispute, Louisa was part of the legal team that successfully argued superseding a foreign order resulting in the children remaining in BC with their primary parent.

In Dykes v. Dykes, 2024 BCSC 767, Louisa assisted in successfully opposing a spouse’s application for the sale of a property that the client owned with his sister, arguing that it was neither necessary nor expedient that the property be sold.

Since moving to Canada from the Philippines in 2008 with her parents and two siblings, Louisa has lived more than half her life in the beautiful city of Vancouver. She credits her mother for inspiring her to pursue a legal career, who gave up her over 20-year career as a lawyer working at the Court of Appeals of the Philippines to bring her children to Canada. With a Filipino and Chinese background, Louisa can speak both Tagalog and Mandarin. She enjoys interacting with clients from different backgrounds with an appreciation for her own multicultural experiences.

In her spare time, Louisa enjoys exploring different cycling routes and hiking trails with her dad. She is also an avid tarot reader, having given tarot readings for family, friends, and community events. She has also been featured giving a virtual tarot reading to the hosts of “Let Them Eat Cheesecake: A Golden Girls Podcast,” on the episode “Before and After – S2E15” (Louisa’s tarot reading starts at 00:17:38).
