Port Coquitlam estates and the new local court registry

Port Coquitlam is one of the closer Fraser-side communities to our New Westminster office at 26 Fourth Street, about 15 minutes up the Mary Hill Bypass, near where the Pitt and Coquitlam rivers meet the Fraser. Onyx Law Group serves Port Coquitlam from New Westminster; the short drive makes an in-person meeting easy to arrange, though we’re happy to work by phone or video too.

There’s a recent change worth knowing for PoCo estates. In June 2025 the Port Coquitlam Law Courts on Mary Hill Road opened a full Supreme Court registry, so probate and estate files for the Tri-Cities can now be handled locally instead of going to New Westminster. Probate is the grant that lets an executor collect assets, pay debts, and pass on what’s left under a will. When there’s no will, the same registry issues a grant of administration under the Wills, Estates and Succession Act.
