Serving Downtown Vancouver estates from our Georgia Street office

Our downtown office at Suite 1215, 650 West Georgia Street sits in the core of the peninsula, a few blocks from the Vancouver Law Courts at 800 Smithe Street. That is the BC Supreme Court registry where probate applications for downtown estates are filed. Clients working or living around Coal Harbour, Yaletown, and the West End reach us without leaving the neighbourhood.

Estate matters here run under the Wills, Estates and Succession Act. The probate registry at 800 Smithe reviews an application for a grant of probate or administration before an executor can deal with a person’s accounts and property. If a will leaves a spouse or child without adequate provision, WESA also allows a wills variation claim, but it has to be started within 180 days of the grant being issued — miss that window and the claim is usually gone. We handle both the paperwork side and contested files from a few minutes away.
