Estate help for Southlands, based in Kerrisdale

Southlands is the low-lying, semi-rural corner of Vancouver’s west side, south of Southwest Marine Drive along the Fraser, known for its horse paddocks and larger lots. Our Kerrisdale office at Suite 201, 5455 West Boulevard is only a few minutes north, which makes it the practical place for Southlands families to meet us.

Estates here are administered through the BC Supreme Court probate registry at the Vancouver Law Courts, 800 Smithe Street. On larger Southlands properties the main estate asset is usually land, and under the Wills, Estates and Succession Act that land cannot change hands until the registry issues a grant of probate — the Land Title Office will not register a transfer without it. We prepare the application, help the executor deal with the property and any agricultural or tenancy use on it, and step in on wills variation or executor disputes when a family cannot agree.
