Maple Ridge estates: where we meet and where files go

Maple Ridge sits north of the Fraser River, and reaching our New Westminster office at 26 Fourth Street means crossing at the Golden Ears or Pitt River bridge, usually 30 to 40 minutes and longer at rush hour. Onyx Law Group serves Maple Ridge from that New Westminster location, and we’re glad to run most of an estate file by email and video so a grieving family isn’t making the drive more than they need to.

Probate applications for Maple Ridge estates are typically filed at the New Westminster Supreme Court registry, the long-standing probate registry for this side of the river. The Port Coquitlam registry, open since June 2025, is now another nearby option for some matters. Whichever registry handles the file, the executor named in a will can’t distribute the estate for 210 days after the grant is issued unless every beneficiary consents or the court allows it. That waiting period gives anyone with a claim against the estate time to come forward.
