I won a will challenge. How do I receive the money without losing my disability benefits? So in BC, if somebody is receiving a person with disabilities pension or other disability pension from CPP, there is a risk of losing their benefits, at least for the month that they receive those benefits from a settlement or from an inheritance, if that money is not used, there’s a certain number of rules to purchase a home, to purchase a vehicle, to put in a registered disability plan, and any excess that’s not put into these amounts, these categories, would have to be put into a discretionary disability trust. And if not, then their disability benefits are taken away.
